Things to do at Loyola: September 11-25

As Ramblers settle into the fall semester, there is no shortage of events for every interest. From volleyball games to academic and career fairs to a community night at Soldier Field, here are highlights to check out in the upcoming weeks.

Loyola Invitational  

September 11-13, Gentile Arena  

Support the Women’s Volleyball team at their home opener against Stephen F. Austin and during the rest of the games in the Loyola Invitational.  

Loyola Night at Soldier Field: Chicago Fire FC vs New York City FC 

September 13, 7:30 p.m., Soldier Field 

See the Chicago Fire take on NYC FC at Soldier Field. With the Loyola ticket pack, students will get admission and a special edition Loyola x Chicago Fire FC scarf. Five dollars will be donated to Loyola University Chicago for every ticket purchased.  

Men’s Soccer vs. UIC  

September 15, 7 p.m., Loyola Soccer Park  

Cheer on the Men’s Soccer team at their home match against UIC.  

Study Abroad Fair 

September 16, 11 a.m.–3 p.m., Damen Student Center Atrium  

Students interested in studying abroad can explore the many opportunities Loyola has to offer by attending the Study Abroad Fair and connecting with program representatives and alumni. 

Museum Curator Gloria Groom Talk on Exhibit at AIC 

September 16, 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m., Information Commons, 4th Floor  

To learn more about the exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago, Gustave Caillebotte: Painting His World, attend this lecture from curator Gloria Groom, sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. 

Business Opps Networking and Career Fair 

September 16-17, 3 p.m.–6 p.m., Schreiber Center  

Students are invited to meet with recruiters and firms about internship and full-time opportunities. Day 1 will focus on Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems, while Day 2 will feature Marketing, Communication, Consulting, and other opportunities. Professional headshots will be offered from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.and professional attire is recommended. 

Narcan Training 

September 17, 4–5p.m., Damen Cinema  

Join the Wellness Center for training on how to use Narcan, a nasal spray that can be used in emergencies to reverse opioid overdose. The lesson will provide information and instruction in response to the increase of opioid related overdoses among college-age adults. 

The Last Supper by Paul Elie 

September 17, 7 p.m.–8:30 p.m., Online 

The Hank Center for the Catholic Intellectual Heritage will host National Book Critics Circle Award finalist Paul Elie to discuss his latest book The Last Supper, which explores art and the decline of religious affiliation through the 1980s. Registration is required to attend.  

Winthrop Garden Open House  

September 18, 12 p.m.–2 p.m., 1101 N. Loyola Avenue 

Meet student growers in the School of Environmental Sustainability’s Urban Agriculture Program and learn more about sustainable food production practices on the Lake Shore Campus. 

Latine Heritage Month Celebration 

September 18, 3:30 p.m.–5 p.m., Sister Jean MPR  

Join the Division of Student Development and the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for authentic cuisine, live music, and educational booths in honor of the rich diversity and contributions of Latine communities.  

Learning with Purpose Speaker Series 

September 18, 6 p.m.–8 p.m., in-person in Schreiber Center or virtual 

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies will host their Learning with Purpose Speaker Series, this month featuring Paralegal Studies Instructor Katrice Miller. The talk will focus on building financial security through career moves.  

Organ Concert: Katie Gunn   

September 21, 3 p.m., Madonna della Strada Chapel 

Attend this month’s organ concert series with a performance from Katie Gunn. Admission is free and open to the public. 

Greek Week 

September 22-26, various locations 

Celebrate community and friendly competition with Sorority & Fraternity Life. The week-long event will include fun, service, and community-building activities, starting with Greek Week Kickoff on September 22.
