
The Loyola University Chicago Board of Trustees recently appointed William G. Kistner (BBA ’74) and Brian K. Speers (JD ’94) as Life Trustees.
Kistner served on the Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2025. In 2005 he was the recipient of the Damen Award of the Quinlan School of Business and served on the Dean’s Advisory Board. His successful business career includes 14 years as vice president of Internal Audit at Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, following a distinguished 31-year career as a partner at Ernst & Young in Chicago.
A Loyola undergraduate alumnus, he earned a master’s degree from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Kistner continues to serve on the boards of Byline Bancorp, Inc. and Erie Family Health Centers, and previously held board roles with Chicago Jesuit Academy and St. Ignatius College Prep.
Speers served on the Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2025. His past service to Loyola includes member of the Council of Regents and School of Law Board of Governors. He also served as chair of the School of Law Annual Fund. Speers is managing director at Merrill Lynch, where he advises clients with a focus on fiduciary and retirement planning. He holds both the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor designation and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor credential. A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Speers earned his JD from Loyola.
