With 150 international study abroad programs across 70 different countries, Ramblers have the world at their fingertips. Currently, applications for Summer and Fall 2025 programs at Loyola’s John Felice Rome Center are open.
Rooted in Loyola’s Jesuit tradition, which calls students to be “men and women for others,” the University encourages Ramblers to become global citizens. One in three Loyola students study abroad, seizing the opportunity to broaden their horizons through international experiences.
Students can browse a range of potential programs, from semester-long experiences to shorter J-term and summer programs.
Rome Center: Loyola’s Home Abroad
While Loyola partners with institutions and affiliate programs worldwide, the Rome Center stands as the University’s very own international study abroad center. The Rome Center offers a rich blend of history and culture within a five-acre campus. Students can apply to spend a summer, semester, or full academic year studying in Rome, experiencing Italian life while completing their college education.
Students can also take part in the Fusion Experience program, a unique offering that blends academic theory with practical, hands-on experiences in two distinct regions of Italy. In this program, students combine courses from two complementary disciplines to gain a broader, comparative perspective on Italian culture.
Application tips from the Study Abroad Office
The Office of Global and Community Engagement suggests that interested students follow three key steps when navigating their application process:
Step 1: Find the right program for you
When looking into programs, students should be sure to consider eligibility, costs, and deadlines.
Step 2: Connect with the study abroad office
Once students have decided on a program—or at least a particular country—they should schedule an appointment through Navigate.
Step 3: Start your application
Once Ramblers have chosen their program, they should start the application on the study abroad site.
Students should apply as early as possible to increase their chances of being admitted.
