End of semester reminders: residence hall move-out, final exams, and more

As the semester winds down, Ramblers are preparing to head home for winter break. Before you leave campus, here are some important reminders to help you wrap up the fall semester and prepare for the spring:

 

Class schedule 

The last day of finals for the fall 2024 semester is Saturday, December 14. The 2025 spring semester starts on Monday, January 13, 2025. 

 

Campus transportation schedules

Intercampus Shuttle 

The last day of shuttle service before winter break will be Friday, December 13. Limited shuttle service will be in effect Saturday, December 14, running every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. No service from December 15 to January 12. Normal hours will resume Monday, January 13.   

8-RIDE  

The last night of service will be on Saturday, December 14. Service resume will resume on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Parking Permits 

Be sure to get a Spring 2025 semester parking permit. Permits become available on Monday, December 9, at noon for commuter and resident students who have registered for the Spring 2025 semester. Applications are available here.  

U-Pass 

Fall deactivation dates are available here. Students may use their U-Pass during winter break as a regular Ventra card by adding personal funds.

Information Commons extended finals hours 

From December 2 to December 15, community guests and visitors are restricted from the IC and Cudahy Library to prioritize study space for finals week. Community access resumes on December 16.  

Sunday, December 1: 10 a.m. – 2 a.m. 

Monday, December 2 – Thursday, December 5: 7 a.m. – 2 a.m. (Extended Hours) 

Friday, December 6: Close at midnight 

Saturday, December 7: 8 a.m. – midnight 

Sunday, December 8: 10 a.m. – 2 a.m. 

Monday, December 9 – Friday, December 13: 7 a.m. – 2 a.m. (Extended Hours) 

Saturday, December 14: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Make the holidays green: prepare your office or space for break 

Lower energy costs and support campus sustainability by following this checklist: 

  • Power down your computer and all nonessential equipment such as monitors, printers, and hard drives.  
  • Unplug equipment (including microwaves) and empty fridges and coffee pots in your spaces and nearby.  
  • Ensure your thermostat is on and turned down to 60°F (if possible).  
  • Close laboratory fume hood sashes and power down nonessential lab equipment.  
  • Double check that all windows are closed and locked, and drapes or blinds are drawn shut.  
  • Use Loyola’s facilities service request link to report malfunctioning windows or other building issues that could negatively impact energy conservation.    
  • Turn off printers and all lights, including your Christmas lights.

Residence hall move-out 

Dorm hall residents must check out by noon on December 15, unless registered for Winter Break Stay. Residence halls are closed during winter break and will reopen at noon on Sunday, January 12, 2025. 

Before Leaving: 

  • Unplug electronics and refrigerators. 
  • Pack your belongings securely. 
  • Lock all windows and doors. 

 

Dining hall closures 

Ramblers should plan accordingly for dining hall closure schedules that come into effect during winter break. Check Campus Dish online for updates on dining hall hours.
