As the academic year comes to an end, the Loyola community is encouraged to review the following key reminders to prepare for a smooth transition into summer.
Prepare for move out
Students living in on-campus residence halls will need to move out within 24 hours of your last exam or by Monday, May 4, at 12 p.m., whichever comes first.
Check out at your Building/Area desk after removing all your belongings, following the move out checklist, and cleaning your dorm/apartment/suite. Be sure you have your key to return and Student ID to provide to the Desk Receptionist.
Transportation updates
Shuttle service and 8-RIDE:
- The final day of full intercampus shuttle service will be Friday, May 1.
- Limited shuttle service will run every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Saturday, May 2.
- The last night of 8-RIDE service for the spring semester is Saturday, May 2.
- Intercampus Shuttle and 8-RIDE services will resume in Fall 2025.
If you’re currently eligible for the CTA U-Pass, note that the unlimited ride portion of your pass will soon deactivate. See all deactivation dates here. Students may manually load funds onto U-Passes over summer, and those eligible for a summer U-Pass will have them reactivated on specific dates in May.
If you wish to opt out of the U-Pass program for summer, the waiver site is open until Friday, June 12.

Plan for parking
Fall 2026 and annual 2026-2027 parking permits will be available on June 22. Applications can be found here.
Starting May 5, the Main Parking Structure will be limited to graduating students and their guests. Graduates will be sent parking passes with their ceremony tickets. Other members of the Loyola community can still find parking at different lots on campus, including Fordham Garage, West Loyola Lot, Contractor’s Lot, and St. Louis Lot.
To ease traffic, please plan ahead, carpool, or use public transportation whenever possible.
Questions? Contact Campus Transportation at 773.508.7036 or campustransportation@LUC.edu. For U-Pass questions, email upass@LUC.edu.
Use study resources
With finals season here, the Spring 2026 Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Schedule offers times to meet with peer leaders for support on a variety of subjects. The Writing Center provides students with feedback on papers and other assignments.
Forgot your charger or need a camera for a multimedia final project? Check out available equipment at Digital Media Services.
Prioritize wellness
Active Minds LUC will host Recharge the Mind on April 21 in Ireland’s featuring free food from Chipotle. The Stress Catcher event on April 23, held by the Wellness Center, will help students develop a self-care plan for the end of the semester. Students can also practice bubble meditation and play some games at the Wellness Center’s Study Day Stress Relief on April 29.
Stay involved
Finals season doesn’t just mean cramming for exams and finishing up final assignments, but the chance to participate in Loyola traditions.
Finals Breakfast, the beloved end-of-semester tradition, will be on April 28 from 7:30 p.m.–10 p.m. Join the Center for Student Engagement for breakfast favorites, games, and DIY care kits. Register on LUCommunity.
Students can visit Sully the therapy dog at De-Stress Fest on Tuesday, April 21, or take some breaks from studying with the Friday Night Flick on Friday, April 24.
Tips for a green summer
The Office of Sustainability encourages the Loyola community to take small steps toward a greener summer:
- Participate in the Think Green and Give program during residence hall move-out. Students can donate clothes, unopened food, non-perishables, toiletries, and household goods to local nonprofits as they move out for the summer. Collection stations will be placed around campus and within our residence halls. Follow the Student Environmental Alliance on Instagram for more updates.
- Visit LUC.edu/recycle for guidelines on spring cleaning, including information on what goes in the blue bins and how to recycle harder-to-dispose-of items like electronics and plastic film.
- Submit a Work Order Request or use the Equipment Disposal Form per the Capital Asset Management Policy for tagged Loyola equipment that needs to be disposed.
- Participate in Loyola’s annual Bike Commuter Challenge by biking to work and campus. Coordinated by Active Transportation Alliance, the friendly competition promotes biking to campus by encouraging employees to log bike commuting trips and awarding the top Loyola riders. More information on this year’s competition and how to participate will be shared soon. You can read about previous years’ details and winners.
Good luck on finals and the end of the semester, Ramblers!
