Things to do at Loyola: August 28-September 11

The semester has officially begun and Loyola’s campuses are full of activities. In the next two weeks, build community with Welcome Week activities, theatrical performances, and athletic events. Here’s a list of activities to add to your calendar: 

Water Tower Campus Block Party  

August 28, 4 p.m.–7 p.m., Water Tower Campus  

Join the Loyola community in kicking off the new academic year with a night of food, music, and fun on Pearson Street in between Rush and State.

Women’s Soccer vs. Iowa  

August 28, 7 p.m., Loyola Soccer Park  

See the Loyola Women’s Soccer team take on Iowa in their first home game since the start of the new academic year. 

One Love Open House 

August 29, 12 p.m.–2:30 p.m., CSIB Offices  

All students are invited to enjoy sweet treats and learn more about the Center for Student Inclusion and Belonging’s community-building programs.  

Wellness Wolfpack Open House 

August 29, 5 p.m.–7 p.m., Damen Student Center South Entrance  

The Wellness Wolfpack will host a wellness fair for students to get to know Peer Health Educators and learn about topics including nutrition, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, and gender-based violence.  

Field Day 

August 30, 1 p.m.–4 p.m., West Quad  

Join the Center for Student Engagement for some food, friendly competition, and chances to win prizes through games like spikeball at this year’s Field Day during Welcome Week.

Pack the Park 

August 31, 1 p.m.–3 p.m., Loyola Soccer Park  

For the chance to win a free shirt and cheer on Women’s Soccer, pack the stands at Loyola Soccer Park to watch the Women’s Soccer team take on Purdue. There will be a t-shirt giveaway for the first 300 students. A free shuttle will leave from the Father Damen Statue at 12 p.m. for those ready to support the Ramblers.  

Choral Concert: Ensemble Vocapella Limburg 

September 2, 7 p.m.–8 p.m., Madonna della Strada Chapel  

Campus Ministry will host the award-winning chorus Ensemble Vocapella Limburg for a free a capella concert. Hear the choral music as part of the Madonna della Strada Chapel Organ Concert Series.

Job, Internship, and Service Fair 

September 3, 1 p.m.–4 p.m., Damen MPR  

Visit the Job, Internship, and Service Fair to explore a variety of organizations, companies, and opportunities. Free headshots will be offered from 1 p.m.–3 p.m. Loyola students of all levels and majors are welcome.  

Small to Mid-sized Accounting Firms Career Fair  

September 4, 3 p.m.–6 p.m., Schreiber Center, 9th Floor 

Graduate business students, accounting undergraduates, and any other interested or recent graduate students are welcome to connect with small to mid-sized accounting firms at this event and learn more about professional opportunities.  

Men’s Soccer vs. Wright State 

September 4, 7 p.m., Loyola Soccer Park  

Cheer on the Ramblers as they take on Wright State in this home match.  

An Illiad 

September 4, 7:30 p.m., Mundelein Center, Newhart Family Theatre  

Join Assistant Professor of Theatre Timothy Edward Kane as he reprises his award-winning performance of An Iliad. For one night only, see the one-man adaptation of Homer’s Iliad as an illuminating story about human loss across 3 millennia of war.

Community Night with the Chicago White Sox  

September 9, 6:40 p.m., Rate Field  

Show support for the Ramblers and White Sox alike at this year’s Community Night with the Chicago White Sox. Get a discounted ticket to the game and receive a limited White Sox/Loyola t-shirt.
