Whether fighting off procrastination with the Writing and Tutoring Center or dancing at The Queen’s Ball with the Swing Dancing Club, here are some upcoming events to check out on campus.  

Men’s Basketball vs. SLU 

February 13, 7:30 p.m., Gentile Arena 

See Men’s Basketball in their game against SLU for Senior Night. The graduating class can join in on a Senior Celebration before the game in Damen Den. Find more details here. 

Women’s Basketball vs. Saint Joseph’s  

February 14, 6 p.m., Gentile Arena  

Cheer on the Ramblers as they take on Saint Joseph’s.  

Organ Concert Series: Tom Robak  

February 15, 3 p.m., Madonna della Strada Chapel  

Experience the pipe organ of Madonna della Strada with a free performance by Tom Robak. 

Spring Bouldering Competition  

February 16, 2 p.m., Halas Recreation Wall  

Campus Recreation will host the annual bouldering competition at the Halas Climbing Hall. The competition includes beginners, intermediate, and advanced divisions, and climbers of all experience levels are invited to participate.  

Living Oaks of Notre Dame Lecture by Lindsay Cook

The Medieval Studies Lecture Series continues with “The Living Oaks of Notre Dame: Carpentry in Medieval Paris,” presented by Lindsay Cook, assistant teaching professor of Art History and Architectural History at Penn State.  

McElroy Shakespeare Event 

February 17, 7 p.m., Newhart Family Theatre  

Inspired by Loyola’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, join the Theatre Department and the Department of English for an interdisciplinary evening featuring live performances and a lecture. 

Campus Ministry Social–Paczkis and Beads

Celebrate Fat Tuesday and the beginning of the Lenten season at the Campus Ministry February Social with traditional Polish paczki doughnuts, Mardi Gras beads, and games.  

Ash Wednesday Services 

February 18, all day, Madonna della Strada Chapel  

Ash Wednesday liturgies will take place on all Chicago-area campuses throughout the day for members of the Loyola community celebrating Lent.

Crafting Your Luck: Lunar New Year

Join the University Libraries in celebrating Lunar New Year with zodiac wheel and red envelope crafts, as well as a Chinese calligraphy lesson from Hong Chen, director of Chinese Language and Culture. 

The Queen’s Ball

The Loyola University Chicago Swing Dancing Club invites the Loyola community to step into the world of the Regency Era with a grand ball-inspired event.  

Black History Month Celebration

Join the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Division of Student Development for a celebration of community, wellness, and joy. All Loyola students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.  

University Partner Fest at The Art Institute of Chicago

As a member of the Art Institute of Chicago’s University Partner Program, Loyola students, staff, and faculty are invited to a free day at the Art Institute featuring art talks, a career panel, gallery experiences, art-making, and an exclusive reception. Show a valid Loyola ID at the University Partner Fest table (Michigan Avenue or Modern Wing) for free admission.  

Martha Biondi: Chicago’s Anti-Apartheid Movement  

February 23, 4 p.m., McCormick Lounge, Coffey Hall 

The History Department will welcome Martha Biondi, professor of History and Lorraine H. Morton, professor of Black Studies at Northwestern, for the department’s fourth annual Black History Month event to discuss Chicagoans’ role in anti-apartheid efforts.  

Long Night Against Procrastination

Join the Writing Center and the Tutoring Center for a night of peer-to-peer support to prepare for midterms.  

Cancer Research Night and Poster Session  

February 24, 4 p.m., Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center 

Explore a showcase of cancer-focused research across many disciplines, including an abstract competition for students and trainees, a poster session, and networking opportunities. 

Men’s Volleyball vs. Northern Kentucky

Support the Rambler Men’s Volleyball team as they take on Northern Kentucky.
