Artificial Intelligence and the Role of Libraries
October 23, 5 p.m.–6:30 p.m., 4th Floor Information Commons, Lake Shore Campus
Join University Libraries for a conversation with Joseph Vukov, associate professor of philosophy in the College of Arts and Sciences, on his book Staying Human in an Era of Artificial Intelligence. The discussion will cover the dangers of AI, its impact on students and academics, and will feature perspectives from Research and Education librarians.
DFPA Presents: The Neighborhood of the Loners
October 23-November 2, Newhart Family Theatre
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts presents the world premier of The Neighborhood of the Loners, translated from Spanish by Kelly Howe, associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences. The show follows a neighborhood where residents live without interaction, until a mysterious death disrupts the solitude. An after-show discussion will be held on October 30, while viewers are invited to a pre-show game of Mafia on Halloween.
The Power of Storytelling: Harold Ellis Clark
October 23, 5 p.m.–6 p.m., Crown Center Auditorium
Award-winning playwright Harold Ellis Clark will join the Division of Student Development and the Rambler Brotherhood Project for a talk on storytelling and reading of an excerpt of his play, Fishers of Men. All are welcome to attend.
Women’s Basketball vs. North Central (Exhibition)
October 26,1 p.m., Gentile Arena
Women’s Basketball will face off against North Central in this exhibition game. Entrance is free and no tickets are required.
Men’s Basketball vs. St. Francis (Exhibition)
October 28, 7 p.m., Gentile Arena
Cheer on the Men’s Basketball team in their home opening exhibition game against St. Francis. Undergraduate students receive free admission to all home basketball games and tickets must be claimed in advance.
The Inclusion Imperative: Reaching Every Audience

Join the School of Communication for a discussion about inclusive advertising with Marc Wilson, executive director of strategic inclusion at FCB Chicago, an advertising agency. This event will explore how brands are connecting with the diverse audiences shaping today’s market.
College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Lecture on Science & Society Featuring Shermann “Dilla” Thomas

The 3rd Annual College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Lecture on Science & Society will feature Chicago historian, cultural worker, and social media sensation Shermann “Dilla” Thomas. Dilla is known for his humor and heart in celebrating Chicago’s history on social media.
“Incarnation and Evolution: The Catholic Vision of Teilhard de Chardin”
October 30, 7 p.m.–8:30 p.m., Information Commons 4th Floor
The Hank Center presents this year’s Teilhard de Chardin Lecture, featuring Sr. Ilia Delio, who will discuss theology and the challenges brought about by technological and social transformations. All are welcome to join in person or can register to receive the post-event video.

Parisian Bathhouses in the Social Imagery
