Jonathan B. Singer, PhD, LCSW, focuses on youth suicide prevention with a strong focus on the mental health of marginalized populations, technology integration in social work, and innovative approaches to social work education. He applies a journalistic lens to his research and works with several youth advisory boards including Jed Foundation, Suicide Prevention Resource Center, and 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Singer can discuss youth suicide, ethics, and technology. His scholarship has developed frameworks for school-based suicide prevention, explored the impact of media reporting on high-profile suicide deaths, investigated the use of AI language learning models, podcasting as a tool for social scholarship, and harnessing technology for social good. He hosts the award-winning Social Work Podcast, where he discusses important topics related to social work practice and education.
