The return to campus each fall is filled with joy and excitement through the annual beloved traditions during Welcome Week. This year, new and returning Ramblers came out in the thousands—breaking every attendance record from years past—to participate in Welcome Week.

From the start of move-in through the first week of classes, the Division of Student Development’s Center for Student Engagement and countless campus partners came together to host events providing the chance to celebrate, connect, and build community.

Welcome Week’s hallmark event, New Student Convocation, saw more than 3,000 incoming students gather on the East Quad and form the shape of the Loyola ‘L’ before walking through the green Cudahy Library doors to celebrate the start of their academic journey.

Students also had the opportunity to make new connections at the West Quad BBQ, volunteer for the Saturday of Service, watch How to Train Your Dragon at Movie on the Quad night, dance the night away at the Silent Disco, and even take over Pearson Street downtown for the Water Tower Campus Block Party.

Students, faculty, and staff alike were reminded of the traditions, community, and campus that we share, reinvigorating all for the school year ahead.

Nothing says Chicago in the summer like a block party. For the Water Tower Campus Block Party, Pearson Street is closed for the Loyola community to play games, dine at tables, and listen to live music while taking in the big city surroundings.
