Faculty, staff, and supporters of the Institute for Racial Justice gathered September 26 for the IRJ Faculty Back to School Mixer. Faculty from across the University who have become IRJ affiliates through their scholarly work were welcomed by IRJ’s Founding Dean Malik Henfield and Loyola Provost Douglas W. Woods.
The event centered on the theme of collaboration, blending socializing with scholarship through a series of interactive “lightning table talks” where faculty presented 90-second synopses of their IRJ research projects, sparking questions and discussion at their tables.
The event fosters “deeper understanding of each other’s work and offers an opportunity to explore potential partnerships within the IRJ community,” said Dean Henfield.
Provost Woods echoed the collaborative spirit in his remarks, stating, “The complexity of racial injustice demands that we collaborate across boundaries. At IRJ, the intersections of these disciplines create new possibilities for understanding and change.”
