Sunny Moon Named Vice Provost of Institutional Research and Analysis

Loyola University Chicago announced the appointment of Sunny Moon, PhD, as the new Vice Provost of Institutional Research and Analysis, effective February 15, 2025.

Moon is a nationally recognized leader in institutional research, known for her dedication to advancing student success, equity, and strategic planning in higher education. With more than 15 years of experience at institutions such as California State University, Los Angeles, and California State University, Fullerton, she has spearheaded initiatives aimed at improving data utilization, student outcomes, and organizational effectiveness. Her work has earned national recognition, particularly for her research on high-impact practices and strategies that enhance accountability within higher education.

Moon’s expertise includes culturally responsive educational practices designed to close equity gaps and increase student retention. Her research in this area has received widespread acclaim. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Southern California, where she also served as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis.

In her new role at Loyola, Moon will lead efforts to advance the University’s mission through robust data analysis and data-informed decision-making. Her leadership will be instrumental in promoting continuous improvement across the University and in evaluating the outcomes of strategic initiatives.
