As the end of the semester nears, the University continues to track information and offer support and guidance as executive orders and other federal actions affecting higher education continue to be considerations in the work of colleagues at Loyola and across higher education
Our Catholic, Jesuit mission means we are committed to upholding the inherent dignity of each person created in the likeness of God. We remain steadfast in our commitment to serve all as a welcoming learning community that is open to people from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives. As developments continue to unfold, the University remains committed to providing clear, thoughtful, and mission-aligned responses.
The University Leadership Council and the Council of Deans meet regularly to assess new developments and evaluate their potential impact on the University. Additionally, Loyola remains engaged with peer institutions in Chicago, throughout Illinois via the Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities (FIICU), and nationally through organizations such as the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU), the American Council on Education (ACE), and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
International Students and Scholars
Recent changes in federal immigration policy and enforcement have caused confusion and concern for some. International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is dedicated to supporting the success of international students, scholars, faculty, and staff at Loyola.
ISSS is directly in touch with and supporting students, faculty, and staff who may be impacted by changes in policy and enforcement. In this time of confusion and ambiguous directives, it is especially important that international students, faculty, and staff continue to maintain their status.
Loyola is closely monitoring recent actions to assure academic freedom and freedom of expression for all of our community, including our international community. If you have questions, please refer to the resources listed below.
Loyola remains committed to supporting students, faculty, and staff through a range of resources:
- International Student and Scholar Services: Provides immigration-related advising services, programming, and events for international students and scholars.
- Campus Safety: For concerns about physical safety, Campus Safety is available 24/7 at 773-508-SAFE.
- CURA Network: A centralized platform led by the Office of the Dean of Students, offering support, case management, and resource referrals for student concerns.
- Wellness Center: Offers confidential medical and mental health services, as well as holistic well-being support.
- Campus Ministry: Provides spiritual care, reflection spaces, prayer opportunities, and guidance.
Research Funding Updates
On February 12, Loyola launched a dedicated webpage to monitor federal funding developments related to research. This resource includes relevant information for faculty and researchers and is regularly updated as new information becomes available. More details can be found on the Research Updates website.
