CHICAGO—Loyola University Chicago President Mark C. Reed reflects on Pope Francis’s enduring legacy:

“Whether through his teachings, his service, his sense of humor, or through his love, Pope Francis exemplified how to truly be a person for others. As an unyielding advocate for education and service, he never sought to ignore society’s complex problems, but instead showed us how to move forward, alongside one another, toward a better tomorrow. Loyola University Chicago will forever benefit from Pope Francis’s work to build bridges, connecting and supporting young people throughout the world.”

Background:
Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pope, shared a direct connection to Loyola through meetings with University leadership, students and staff, as well as worldwide programs, such as the  Building Bridges Initiative and continuing programming aligned with the Pope’s encyclical, Laudato Si’.
