Loyola University Chicago Elects New and Returning Members to Board of Trustees

The Loyola University Chicago Board of Trustees elected new members, Pablo Di Si (BBA ’94) and Thomas M. Schoewe (BBA ’74), and returning member Stephen P. Squinto (BA ’74, PhD ’84), at its Annual Meeting on May 1.

Di Si and Schoewe will serve initial three-year terms. Squinto, who served on the Board from 2014 to 2022, was re-elected to a new three-year term of service.

“We are thrilled to welcome Pablo Di Si, Thomas M. Schoewe, and Stephen P. Squinto to our Board of Trustees. Their diverse backgrounds and wealth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to advance our Jesuit, Catholic mission and strategic goals. I look forward to working closely with them to further enhance the educational experience for our students,” Loyola President Mark C. Reed, EdD said.

Eight current Trustees were re-elected to three-year renewed terms: Michael R. Haney, Lauren Serra Henderson, Patrick E. McGrath, S.J., Eileen M. Mitchell, Gregory J. O’Meara, S.J., Mark S. Rzepczynski, Edward J. Siebert, S.J., and Robert A. Sullivan.

The Board also recognized the dedicated service of two outgoing Trustees, William G. Kistner (BBA ’72), and Brian K. Speers (JD ’93), as they concluded their terms on the Board.

Board Chair John Schreiber extended his gratitude to the new trustees and to those concluding their service.

“The addition of these accomplished leaders to our Board of Trustees is a testament to Loyola University Chicago’s commitment to excellence. Pablo, Tom, and Steve bring unique perspectives and expertise that will help guide our University into the future. We are excited to have them join us and contribute to our ongoing success,” Schreiber said. “Additionally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Bill and Brian. Their dedication and contributions have been instrumental in our progress, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to Loyola.

Loyola’s new Trustees

  

Pablo Di Si (BBA ’94) is the former president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Volkswagen Group of America. Di Si joined Volkswagen in 2014 and held several executive roles, including president and CEO for Volkswagen Argentina, and executive chairman and president and CEO of Volkswagen Latin America. Before joining Volkswagen, Di Si held senior positions at global companies including Fiat Chrysler, Monsanto, Kimberly-Clark, and Abbott Laboratories. Di Si currently serves as an independent board member for Copesucar, Lindsay Corporation, and JHSF. 

Thomas M. Schoewe (BBA ’74) is the former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Walmart Inc. Prior to his employment with Walmart, he held several roles at the Black & Decker Corporation, including senior vice president and chief financial officer. Before joining Black & Decker, Schoewe worked for Beatrice Companies, where he was chief financial officer and controller of one of its subsidiaries, Beatrice Consumer Durables Inc. Schoewe has extensive experience on corporate and nonprofit boards. 

Stephen P. Squinto (BA ’74, PhD ’84) is chief investment officer of J.P. Morgan Life Sciences Private Capital. His previous experience includes leadership positions at Orbimed Advisors, cofounder of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Squinto has held academic positions as assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at Louisiana State University Medical Center and as adjunct professor of neuroscience at Tulane University Medical School.
