Loyola University Chicago has appointed Luigi B. Amendola as Vice President for University Advancement, effective May 12.
Amendola brings nearly 25 years of experience in higher education fundraising and development. He came to Loyola in October 2021 as Assistant Vice President for Development and has played a key role in advancing the University’s philanthropic efforts.
“Luigi’s experience and commitment to Loyola’s mission and Jesuit heritage will serve him well as he assumes the role of chief advancement officer,” said President Mark C. Reed, EdD. “He will lead the way as Loyola broadly and deeply engages its vast alumni network and increases philanthropic support to enable Loyola’s bold aspirations and future success.”
Prior to Loyola, Amendola worked at Lewis University for nine years–five as Vice President for Advancement and four as Associate Vice President–where he was responsible for that institution’s entire development and alumni relations activities and served as a senior university leader. Additionally, Amendola served 12 years at the University of Illinois Chicago in both central and school-based major gift and development officer roles.
“I’m thrilled to serve Loyola in this role,” said Amendola. “I’m excited to work in partnership with our talented team to drive a culture of philanthropy and support the University’s commitment to providing students with a transformative, globally connected learning experience.”
Throughout his career, Amendola has secured significant gifts, developed and led fundraising campaigns, built productive teams, and fostered meaningful donor relationships. He has collaborated closely with academic and administrative leaders to expand donor participation and support, and has consistently supported broad-based alumni engagement.
Amendola earned his BS in Business Administration and Finance from Lewis University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
