CHICAGO – Loyola University Chicago will host its first outdoor Christmas tree and campus lighting celebration on Sunday, Nov. 9, beginning at [7:30 p.m.] on Lake Shore Campus.

The Loyola community is invited to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with a tree and campus lighting ceremony, hot chocolate, and carols at St. Ignatius Plaza on Kenmore Avenue between Rosemont Avenue and Sheridan Road. President Mark Reed, PhD, and Father Thomas W. Neitzke, S.J., Ed.D., will deliver remarks before lighting the tree.

The lighting of the tree will coincide with the simultaneous lighting of seasonal decorations across Lake Shore Campus and Water Tower Campus in Chicago, IL, and Health Sciences Campus in Maywood, IL.

Following the ceremony, all are welcome to enjoy campus, visit the West Quad for more winter fun, food, and giveaways sponsored by the student-run Department of Programming, and attend evening Mass at Madonna Della Strada at 9:00 p.m.

The celebration is open to the public, but we ask media to RSVP in advance via media@luc.edu.
