Summer construction projects underway

May 21, 2025

Each summer, Loyola takes advantage of warm weather and reduced traffic on campus to undertake several significant construction projects aimed at enhancing campus facilities. From May 12 to August 8, areas across the Lake Shore Campus will experience construction efforts to bolster infrastructure and enrich the overall campus experience.

Please take note of the following projects:

  • 6347 N. Broadway Renovations: Work to repurpose this six-story building will bring nine new classrooms, faculty offices, and an event space online by Fall 2026.
  • Campus IT Infrastructure Updates: Upgrades are being made to improve the reliability, speed, and capacity of Loyola’s digital infrastructure.
  • Cudahy Library Exterior Renovations: Efforts will address wear and weathering on the building’s exterior.
  • Cudahy Science Exterior Renovations: Exterior repairs and upgrades are planned to enhance the appearance and resilience of this key academic building.
  • Golf and Softball Practice Facilities and Mertz Amenity Deck Renovations: The former Mullady Theater is being converted into a new home for Loyola’s golf and softball teams, with updated indoor training space and a refreshed rooftop plaza for Mertz residents.
  • Granada Center Storefront Signage: New signage will enhance visibility and create a more welcoming, unified presence along Sheridan Road.
  • Ignatius House Roof Renovations: Roof repairs are underway to protect the residence of Loyola’s Jesuit community.
  • Madonna della Strada Chapel Exterior Renovations: Roof tile replacement, limestone cleaning, and repairs are preserving the chapel’s iconic beauty and structural integrity.
  • St. Louis Hall Exterior Renovations: Parapet repairs and new windows will improve safety and energy efficiency in this student residence hall.

These projects are necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability and improvement of Loyola’s campus.
