With basketball season approaching, it’s time for the Loyola community to prepare for an exciting year supporting the Ramblers. Here are tips about student tickets, game day traditions, and how to engage with “The Pack.”
Student Ticket Claim
Loyola undergraduate students receive free admission to all home athletic events. While most games allow entry with a student ID, Men’s Basketball requires a different process.
To get student tickets to the games, head to the ticketing website. Make sure to log into your Loyola UVID. Navigate to ‘student tix’ and select the game for which you’d like to claim your free student ticket.
Once you claim your ticket, check your Loyola email for a confirmation email containing a QR code. This QR code will be scanned at the entrance to grant you access to the game.
For Women’s Basketball games, simply bring your student ID for entry at Gentile Arena.
Loyola graduate and professional students receive discounted admission to athletic events at the faculty/staff ticket rate. All other guests such as parents and family need a ticket to be admitted to Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, and Softball games.
Game Time
Loyola’s Gentile Arena has earned a reputation as the “place to be” on game days, with an electric atmosphere that brings students, alumni, and fans together to cheer on the Ramblers.
Before the arena is open to the public, there are often long lines. Students should line up for access to the arena through the Damen Student Center entrance next to the arena.
No backpacks, water bottles, or large bags are allowed in the arena. Make sure you have your ticket out and ready for security to scan.
The Pack
Once inside, head to sections 108, 109, 110, 211, which are designated for The Pack.
Loyola’s student section, known as “The Pack,” is known for its enthusiastic support and game day traditions. Whether it’s hyping up the team or getting in the heads of the opposing players, these rituals help create a strong home-court advantage at Gentile Arena. There are no dues or sign-ups required to be a part of The Pack—just show up, head to the student section, and cheer loudly. Here are a few key traditions to follow to show your Rambler pride:
- Wear your Rambler gear: Make sure to wear maroon and gold, including your gameday scarf.
- Cheer for the Ramblers: Show your support when the team starters are introduced.
- Remain standing: Keep the energy up by standing throughout the game.
- Cheer for free-throws: When the Ramblers make two free-throws, the Band of Wolves will chant ‘Hip-Hip, Hooray’ three times and end with ‘Huzzah.’ Be sure to join in!
- Sing the fight song: At halftime, join in singing the fight song to show support for Loyola.
- Throw the fours up: The last four minutes of the game are usually crunch time. During the final timeout of the second half, hold four fingers up while the four-minute hype video plays.
- Look for famous faces courtside: Be sure to be on the lookout for notable Loyolans at basketball games. Catch Sister Jean, the iconic chaplain of the Men’s Basketball team, as she carefully watches each game, and Drew Valentine, the Men’s Basketball coach, as she leads the team from the sidelines.
