Loyola’s campus plan begins to take shape

Loyola University Chicago is moving forward with its ambitious campus plan, which was first announced at the end of the last academic year. The plan outlines how the University will adapt to meet the evolving needs of its growing student body, faculty, and staff. 

Loyola’s campus faces basic space constraints, with campus facilities are not large enough to accommodate the University’s expanding community. The campus plan prioritizes creating spaces that support academic and co-curricular success, ensuring that all members of the community have access to environments where they can thrive. 

In addition to meeting these basic needs, the plan also aims to incorporate cutting-edge approaches to teaching, research, community-building, and fostering spaces that enhance the Loyola experience. 

The Lake Shore Campus’s location in the Rogers Park and Edgewater neighborhoods adds a defining element to the planning process. Through community input meetings, a dedicated website, and an interactive map, the project team is actively engaging with the surrounding community. Loyola students, faculty, staff, and local residents are invited to participate in a survey to help shape the future campus environment. 

Over the next decade, the goal is to transform Loyola’s campuses into hubs of learning, discovery, and growth. The campus plan remains a flexible, evolving document that will adapt as new opportunities and resources emerge.
