Things to Do at Loyola: April 23-May 7

Spring has sprung and events at Loyola are in full swing from endofyear celebrations for graduating seniors to finals week de-stress events. Here’s a selection of events to add to your calendar:

 

Men’s Volleyball vs. Lewis-MIVA Tournament 

April 23, 7 p.m., Gentile Arena 

No. 1 Loyola will host No. 4 Lewis for the semifinals of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. 

 

Finals De-stress Fest 

April 23, 6 p.m., 4th Floor of the Information Commons  

The Residence Hall Association will host a de-stress fest, including a night of hat-making, games, prizes, and mocktails.  

 

Tutorpalooza 

April 25–27, 9 a.m., Mundelein Center for Fine and Performing Arts  

The Tutoring Center’s Peer Leaders are offering sessions for courses from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the 6th floor of Mundelein. Prepare for finals with one-on-one tutoring that promotes study skills or join a group session for a specific course. 

 

Fuel for Finals 

April 25, 12:30 p.m., Damen Student Center 

Commuter Student Life will host Fuel for Finals for all commuter students. Free dining hall passes, coffee, and resources for commuter students will be available. 

 

A capella Group Performances

April 25–27, Various locations 

Loyola a capella groups will present their final concerts throughout the end of April. The Acafellas will perform “Fellas on the High Seas” on April 25, where they will perform dressed as pirates and honor the group’s graduating seniors. LUC RAAG will present a fairytale-themed setlist featuring music from a variety of South Asian identities on April 26. Silhouettes will also share the music the group has been working on at a performance on April 26. Loyolacapella will perform their annual “Lake Show” performance on April 27. 

 

Spring Music Celebration 

April 26, 3 p.m., Jo Ann Rooney Hall 

University Chorale, University Singers, and Symphony Orchestra will come together for an end-of-year concert, featuring the 2024 Concerto/Aria Competition winners cellist Grace Hudson-Mairet and pianist Patricia Ticao. 

 

Graduation Celebrations 

April 27–May 4, Various locations 

Each year, the Division of Student Development and campus partners host a series of events celebrating the graduating class. View the full list of graduation celebration events and register here.  

All graduation celebrations are open to all Loyola University Chicago students, faculty, and staff regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. 

 

3rd Annual Illumination Screening 

April 28, 6:30 p.m., Landmark Theater, 2828 N Clark St. 

The Film and Digital Media Program in the School of Communication will host its third annual Illumination screening at Landmark Theater. This “red-carpet evening” will feature student capstone projects and collaborative student projects.  

 

Finals Breakfast 

April 29, 7:30 p.m.–10 p.m., Damen Student Center 

A Loyola tradition, Finals Breakfast is an event for students to grab a free breakfast-themed dinner, take a study break, refuel, and catch up with friends before the last stretch of final exams.  

 

Navigating the Storm: Disruption in the Rule of Law Sector and Charting a Path Forward 

April 30, 12 p.m., Zoom 

The closure of USAID has resulted in a significant funding gap in the rule of law, governance, and justice space. This panel will focus on challenges facing the rule of law sector from local to global, and how to develop new approaches to financing, designing, and delivering justice in the current climate. 

 

Softball vs. George Washington 

May 3-4, Loyola Softball Park 

Loyola wraps up the regular season at home against George Washington.  

 

Baccalaureate Mass and Blessing of Graduates 

May 5, 4 p.m., Madonna della Strada Chapel 

Loyola seniors and their families have the opportunity to gather for reflection and prayer ahead of Commencement Ceremonies.  

 

Corporate Leadership in Sustainable Water Management 

May 6, 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m., The Sloan Showroom, Chicago, IL 

Presented by the Baumhart Center for Social Enterprise and Responsibility, this Chicago Water Week event will explore emerging trends, pressing challenges, and innovative solutions shaping the role of business in sustainable water use.
