Tips for a green summer from the Office of Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability has put together a list of tips that will help make this summer a little greener. From recycling to personal sustainability, these actions can make a big difference.

  • Participate in Loyola’s Think Green and Give program May 1-10, which allows students in the residence halls to donate clothes, food, and household goods to local charities. In 2023, Loyola donated over 9,000 pounds of goods through the program.
  • Sign up to volunteer to sort donations from Loyola’s move-out donation program by emailing sustainability@LUC.edu..
  • Spring cleaning your workspace? Check out LUC.edu/recycle for information on what goes in the comingled recycling program, and how to dispose of hard-to-recycle items like electronics and plastic film.
  • For information on recycling at Loyola’s Health Sciences Campus click here.
  • Look out for new, green additions to the Loyola campus. Campus landscaping crews will be implementing more environmentally friendly initiatives across campus, including using electric mowers and planting native species. Loyola is also installing a geothermal well field near Devon Avenue Beach to provide more energy-efficient heating and cooling.

Moving out of your residence hall

Students living on campus will need to move out of their residence hall room within 24 hours of their last final exam or by Monday, May 6, at noon, whichever comes first.

Please be sure to review the move-out information on the Residence Life website for additional details as well as answers to frequently asked questions. You may also contact Residence Life at res-life@LUC.edu with any questions.
