On Sunday, November 9, the Loyola University Chicago community is invited to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with a tree and campus lighting ceremony, hot chocolate, and carols sung by University Chorale at St. Ignatius Plaza.
First attendees to arrive will receive a free scarf and beanie with a Loyola ID.
At 7 p.m., Father Thomas W. Neitzke, S.J., will bless the tree, and President Mark C. Reed will deliver remarks before lighting the tree.
The tree lighting will coincide with the simultaneous lighting of seasonal decorations across the Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences campuses.
Following the ceremony, all are invited to visit Gentile Arena and Damen Student Center for more winter fun and food, including a custom snow globe creation station and a screening of Elf. All are invited to attend evening Mass at Madonna della Strada Chapel at 9 p.m.
Please note that activities following the lighting ceremony were initially planned for the East and West Quads but will now take place indoors due to the weather forecast.
